University for Heroes taking shape

I've started work on the first map for Pixel Heroes. The University for Heroes (UH) is built in the heart of a forest with only only one path leading away from it. At the end of the path lies the entrance to the dungeon where new heroes will go as a final assignment. Making it out alive, equals a pass.

The University for Heroes. Entrance to Dungeons sold separately.
I'm entertaining the notion that the game won't feature a classic Main Menu but that rather, that the UH will act as an interface where you can change your character, load previous games or quit. For this purpose, I'll probably need to expand the UH at some point but for the moment, the size suits my needs.

Next up, I need to incorporate the Voxel Heroes Model file format (and most likely modify it a bit) so I can start placing some items in the UH. I also need to enhance the map editor to easily place actors in areas. When that has been done, I can decorate the UH with shelves, chests, lights (that reminds me, I still need to write the shader - fun!) and fellow adventurers with a bit of AI.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

  1. Good to see you alive again! I like the idea of a merger - let's see where it goes, eh? Looking forward to the alpha release!

    1. Thank you XWH, I'm glad to hear from you again. Will you be doing LD this weekend? Also, what have you been up to, development-wise? I'd love to start reading your blog again.
